During the recent summer vacation period Sanko Gosei UK Limited installed a facility utilising established laser cutting technology.
The laser is mounted on a 5 axis robot arm to deliver an extremely accurate cut. The laser cutting process is being applied to 64.000 trims per year for a major player in the automotive industry. Laser cutting is not a new venture for the Sanko Group; Sanko Netherlands produce instrument panels with patented laser cut areas associated with safety critical airbag deployment mechanisms.
This new addition is now added to the list of cutting edge technologies currently being applied or in development at the Skelmersdale site, also including
ART (Anti Reflective Technology): - Produces anti reflective coatings and films that can be applied directly or via IML moulding process.
VSD (Vacuum Sputtering Deposition): - Process allows highly reflective coatings, optical quality conductive coatings, anti reflective and anti glare coatings, hot mirrors, and many more coating designs to be applied to both moulded, glass, metal, and other substrates and thin films.
RHCM (Rapid Heat & Cool Moulding): - This moulding process produces very high gloss (Piano Black or Pearl White) visual surfaces without the need for a painting process or in mould film.
In Mould Paint Film: - This moulding process produces body-coloured parts using in mould film, eliminating the need for an expensive painting process.
